Janet Arvizo, the mother whose teenage son was at the center of the molestation charges for which Michael Jackson stood trial, herself was charged today with five felony counts of welfare fraud and perjury. Prosecutors in Los Angeles say she accepted more than $18,000 in welfare benefits after failing to disclose that she and her family had received money in a civil lawsuit settlement.
