Mayor Villaraigosa will be the guest editor for the next collection of student writing from 826LA, the Dave Eggers-inspired group based in Venice. The students are from his alma mater, Roosevelt High. The student work will be published as a book with the mayor writing the foreword.

Speaking of mayors: Is it true, as Jim Healy used to say before dropping some unsubstantiated hearsay on listeners, that Richard Riordan dumped the parking lot attendants at the Pantry recently after he wasn't recognized? I have no idea, but that's what a reader emails they told him at the Pantry.
