The author of Inside Daisy Clover, The Slide Area: Scenes of Hollywood Life and a biography of Natalie Wood died Sunday at age 80. His death was announced by "The Boys in the Band" playwright Mart Crowley. Lambert landed in Hollywood in the 1950s as a screenwriter and personal assistant to director Nicholas Ray. Sharon Waxman does the honors in the New York Times, Dennis McLellan in the L.A. Times. David Ehrenstein blogs, "Gavin was the most transparent of authors -- and the most generous."
