New sheriff in town *

People are buzzing about how L.A.'s mayor is suddenly spotted everywhere these days, giving speeches, meeting the folks, dedicating a new ride at Universal City, throwing out the first ball at Dodger Stadium, representing the city in Washington, welcoming the Congress for the New Urbanism to town, opening the Press Club awards last night. He even pulled an all-nighter Friday and Saturday to settle the long-festering labor dispute in local hotels. Oh wait, my mistake—Antonio Villaraigosa won't actually be the mayor until July 1. It's the mayor-elect who is leading the city. [Well somebody's got to do it...]

* Gay Pride: Antonio was there too, but not Jim Hahn.
