Action on Slater *

Editor and Publisher says the Times is expected to announce some movement on the Eric Slater situation today. They report a rumor that Slater has been fired, but no confirmation. I've been told there might be an editor's note coming.

* Update: The statement just now (2:30 p.m.) from Times VP and spokeswoman Martha Goldstein: "We plan to publish an editor's note within the week regarding Eric Slater's coverage of Chico State. We have no further comment at this time."

Also: Slate's Jack Shafer credits Romenesko with making the Slater affair a national story.
