Parsing the Calendar wall

After reading Sunday's freelanced L.A. Times story about CNN chief Jonathan Klein, Slate's Mickey Kaus says he's finally figured out why Calendar's website blocks readers who aren't subscribers: "It's a damage-control mechanism!"

Calendar today has a piece by Susan Carpenter on Ed Gordon, who is trying to fill Tavis Smiley's radio shoes at NPR.
