Did the Times get used by the defense in the high-profile gang-rape case that is occupying so much attention down in Orange County? R. Scott Moxley contends the answer is yes in a piece for the OC Weekly. He says the Times report on a new mystery defense witness, Joey Cervantes, missed that he was actually an old, unmysterious witness. The paper got played by defense attorney Peter Scalisi, Moxley says: "There’s no bombshell evidence. The Cervantes mystery was a ruse."
