Salon's David Talbot steps down

Salon logoThe founder and editor of Salon.com will announce Thursday that he is leaving after 10 years to write a book about Robert F. Kennedy, the New York Times says. Joan Walsh will move up to become editor. Talbot will stay as chairman of the company, which also is poised to reveal its first quaterly profit ever—a modest $400,000 on $2.2 million in revenue. The liberal San Francisco-based web magazine has 22 full-time editorial employees (down from 60) and claims a monthly readership of 3.4 million and 88,000 paying subscribers.
