Mayoral candidate Bob Hertzberg has turned his website, ChangeLA.com, into the most complete online digest of local politics news. This morning there are 24 entries, many from the Times and Daily News, but also from the Breeze, the Wave and from blogs and other websites (including L.A. Observed). Ultimately it's not clear whether using his campaign staff to do this will help his chances of becoming mayor or just prove a distraction, but while it lasts it's a handy service for we news junkies. They also play it pretty straight, not overtly favoring Hertzberg or playing up hits on Hahn. Though this is kind of funny: In today's excerpt of a Soul Vine column from Wave contributing editor Betty Pleasant, ChangeLA quotes her praising Hertzberg's touch of writing her a personal note. But they omit Pleasant's tagline: "Then he writes another couple of lines which we can’t make out because his handwriting is so bad. But, you gotta love his style!"

* Stats: The site's Brian Hay takes a bow and gives the numbers. Not website traffic, but sources: 42 media outlets and 27 different blogs have been cited in 642 entries, he says.

Also: The Recall Villaraigosa effort now has a website up (the title banner misspells his first name as Anotino). The only content so far is an open letter to the candidate, a note from sponsor Eliseo Villanueva, some press clippings and a call for donations.
