Shoe drops at port

For months, mayoral sibling Janice Hahn has been pressuring for a change in top management at the Port of Los Angeles. She even let it slip in June that her brother wanted to can the executive director, Larry Keller, himself scarcely hiding that he was seeking other jobs to get away from the mess at L.A. harbor. Mayor Hahn denied that his sister was pulling strings and nudging him to fire a major department head, which wouldn't look seemly. Well, it all resolved itself today. Mayor Hahn announced that Keller has resigned, and wished him well in a press release. (His releases are slow to get on the mayor's website, so have patience.)

Also: A week after denouncing Congress' failure to renew a ban on certain assault weapons, Hahn and LAPD chief William Bratton today announced the seizure of "nearly 400 illegal guns." This release also has yet to hit the website.
