Ruben Keoseyan, the daily's managing editor, today was named Executive Editor. At the same time, Deputy Managing Editor Pedro Rojas is leaving La Opini�n to take over El Diario La Prensa in New York. The press release on the new boss here follows:

Largest Spanish-language Daily NewspaperLos Angeles, CA (September 15, 2004) La Opini�n, the nation�s largest and most influential Spanish-language daily newspaper, has named Ruben Keoseyan as Executive Editor. Previously, Keoseyan served as La Opini�n�s Managing Editor.

Keoseyan began his career as a journalist for Televisa, the largest television network in Mexico. Later he relocated to Santa Barbara, California where he conducted the Spanish-language simulcast of the 6PM news for KEYT, an ABC affiliate. Subsequently, Keoseyan served as News Director and Anchor for KSBY, an NBC affiliate, where he spearheaded the first Spanish-language newscast for Latinos in California�s Central coast.

La Opini�n has experienced unprecedented growth over the past several years; circulation has increased by 26% since 1999 and the most recent Scarborough readership study shows a 14% increase in readership in the past year to over 450,000 daily readers. In 2004, La Opini�n combined forces with El Diario La Prensa to form ImpreMedia, the number one Spanish-language newspaper publisher in the US.
Keoseyan was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a Masters degree from The American University in Washington, DC.
