A couple of bugging devices were found and removed from Michael Eisner's office on Disney's Burbank lot this past weekend, the anonymous Industry blogger A Fly on the Wall says. He got it from a single inside source, but the report is pretty specific: the electronic listening devices were found "on a credenza behind Eisner's desk and also under a small conference table." They were removed, of course, along with some upholstered furniture that is being checked further.
Eisner routinely pays for a security sweep by electronics experts every few months out of his own pocket. This is the first time eavesdropping bugs are believed to have been found. The devices were analyzed by electronics experts and determined not to be the sort used by law enforcement authorities...
As to who may have planted the bugs, the list of Eisner's enemies is slightly longer than the Manhattan telephone directory.
Last week, Fly had a second-hand report that upon hearing of his Mulholland Drive neighbor Marlon Brando's death, Jack Nicholson "burst into tears and was utterly inconsolable for a half-hour." Details were included. Fly, meanwhile, has been leaving copious clues to his identity, if anyone cares to put them together.
