Clintonmania

Bill Clinton brings his book tour to L.A. today and tomorrow, and Gayle Pollard-Terry in the Times Calendar section has a feature on the preparations. Brentano's in the Century City Westfield mall will begin issuing tickets at 10 a.m. to people who buy the book. The signing begins this afternoon at 5:30, she says (The Note and other sources reporting it is 5 p.m. Eastern time are apparently wrong).

According to the printed "rules of conduct": "Mr. Clinton will only sign ONE copy of 'My Life' per person ... NO photos ... NO memorabilia ... NO BAGS ... No CELL PHONES ... Mr. Clinton will NOT personalize."

Most of the story deals with Saturday's appearance at Eso Won Books. Tickets there go on sale for $35 (exchanged for a book) at 6 a.m. tomorrow. Parking has been arranged in nearby Ralphs and Albertsons lots. "It's crazy...I've never seen anything like this," says co-owner James Fugate.
