Stick around long enough and...

There are 2,255 stars for tourists to scuff their shoes on along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, including as of today one for longtime TV host Steve Edwards. Richard Horgan of FilmStew watched as Edwards did the deed this morning, shown on live TV on his Fox 11 show "Good Day LA" surrounded by Valley-list celebs such as Henry Winkler and Paula Abdul. There was much talk of his co-hosts through the years, a roster that has on it Dixie Whatley and Mary Hart (on the original "Entertainment Tonight") Patty Duke, Sandy Friedman, Cindy Garvey, Christina Ferrare and now, Dorothy Lucey and Jillian Barberie.

"My career has passed before me today,” Edwards joked during the presentation, which thanks to his Fox breakfast program spinoff "Good Day Live" was the first to be broadcast live on national television. “So many shows, but my most successful have always been with women.”

Befitting the kitschy nature of "Good Day LA," generous amounts of cornball humor were exchanged during the one-hour commercial interrupted celebration. Comedian George Lopez noted that Edwards’ star, east of Hollywood and Vine, would soon be memorialized by nighttime prostitutes and Latinos eating corn and selling piñatas, while Everybody Loves Raymond matriarch Doris Roberts presented Edwards with a special sidewalk star cleaning kit.

Edwards' advice for a long career? "Show up for work. Do the joke. And above all, don’t take it too seriously.”
