Cole gets photo honor

L.A. Times photographer Carolyn Cole, whose work from overseas shows up here on occasion, was given the Newspaper Photographer of the Year award in the annual University of Missouri competition that photogs think of highly. The paper's handling of pictures also received the "Overall Excellence in Editing" award and came away with 21 prizes in all. Full list of winners.
