Chance to see Perino's

LA.com is making a marketing splash if nothing else, with ads visible around town and spots on KCRW. Now the portal website backed by Dean Singleton and others will open the long-abandoned former Perino's on Wilshire for its launch party next week. The invitation claims it will be the final event before demolition of Perino's, which used to be L.A.'s most glamorous society and Hollywood hangout. I was there a few weeks ago and the old peach-colored room designed by Paul R. Williams is mostly intact, and the kitchen still has some Perino's china and matchbooks. The building is going to be mostly torn down and converted to apartments.
