We join the Dees hype

Rick Dees has vowed to make a "life-changing" announcement tomorrow on his morning show on KIIS-FM (102.7). He's been in intense negotiations with Clear Channel over a new contract. LARadio.com's Don Barrett says today that Dees has been offered five years that will let him remain the highest-paid radio personality in town. Adds Barrett:

Rick’s legacy is assured. No matter when Rick leaves morning drive at KIIS/fm, hopefully down the line and not sooner, he will leave an indelible mark in L.A. radio history for having not only survived but thrived for almost a quarter of a century. Only Dick Whittinghill, who spent three decades in morning drive at 710/KMPC, has lasted longer in the coveted and prized AM slot at the same station.

Good luck, Rick, with your decision. There are no heroes when “life-changing” decisions are rash and anger-tinged. Perhaps both sides can take a deep breath and give this “life-changing” decision some air and time.

Update: All he announced was that KIIS's studios will move in with the other Clear Channel stations in town. Barrett says Dees is just buying time to decide his next move.
