The L.A. Times takes a second to the Dallas Morning News in general excellence in the Missouri Lifestyle Journalism Awards. They are not given for writing about the great state of Missouri, but by the Missouri Journalism School for "excellent writing, interesting approach and valuable subject matter." "Sunday Calendar" finished third in the category of Scheduled Feature Segment to the Washington Post's "Health" section and "Sunday Journal" in the Raleigh News and Observer. Roy Rivenburg of the LAT won the Best Short Feature for his piece on the meaning and power of the phrase, "If we [blank], then the terrorists have won." Ron Russell of New Times L.A. was a finalist in the category of Series/Special Section and Myron Levin of the Times was a finalist in the Consumer category.
