Riding the bus with D.J. Waldie

Author D.J. Waldie writes with his usual evocative grace about the travails and occasional thrills of being a guest of the MTA, in the June issue of Los Angeles magazine. The piece isn't on-line yet, but here's a snippet: "Time is different once you're on the bus. It's like being a kid again in the backseat of your parents' car. You don't control anything, and it's going to take a while to get where you are being taken." Waldie takes the bus everywhere because a vision problem renders him unable to drive.
